Spring is the time to refresh and expand your riding skills! Whether you want to perfect obstacles for shows, gain confidence in daily riding or develop a more well-rounded horse, the Spring Obstacle Clinic will offer a weekend of growth, learning, connection and fun.
This clinic is hosted and supported by Sweetbeau Horses on our beautiful ranch in Creston, CA - just 20 minutes outside of Paso Robles.

Half of the clinic proceeds go directly toward supporting our rescued mustangs. Sweetbeau is a 501c3 non-profit which saves, trains and adopts wild American mustangs with the goal to give mustangs taken off the range a safe and fulfilling domestic life. Any training or handling done at Sweetbeau, including during clinics, is always at the horse’s pace to ensure strong and willing horse and human connection. Participating in a clinic at Sweetbeau not only benefits you and your horse, but also a great cause!
Roberto Flores, well known mustang and performance horse trainer and EXCA World’s Judge, will teach you how using obstacles will improve both you and your horse.

All levels of riders are welcome! Horses must have basic ground manners and halter/leading skills to participate. This clinic is best for:
- Green horses or riders ready to start exploring obstacles
- Competitors of EXCA, trail trials, and any other trail/obstacle event
- Trail riders, or any rider at any experience level looking to improve their horsemanship and relationship with their horse
- Any horse and rider looking to get more exposure or a Spring refresher in a constructive environment

2-Day Participant Fee: $450 donation

Auditors are welcome! $25 donation per day for auditors.

Event Details
We have a full schedule planned including groundwork obstacles instruction, arena obstacles, ranch/trail obstacles, a "mock race" and an open session for additional instruction.
Obstacles are grouped in several areas to allow variable levels of difficulty, a different environment, and more customization for how they are used. Working on obstacles in the big outdoor arena with sturdy fencing allows peace of mind for green horses or riders or those interested in practicing speed. The obstacles scattered around the ranch increase the difficulty while sticking close to home, and the natural obstacles placed on the back trails pose an even bigger challenge.
Warm up and training areas are available for use, including: a covered arena, small outdoor arena, large outdoor arena, and a sandy riverbed (provided it is dry).
Overnight Horse Boarding
We have six 12'x16' barn stalls available and one large turnout available.
- $50 Refundable Barn Stall Deposit Per Horse. Fully refundable with clean stalls and area upon departure.
- $50 Board Fee Per Stall. Stalls include some shavings. Must provide your own hay and additional shavings. Each stall has an autowater.
- +$10 Early Haul-In Fee - Allowed Friday between 5 pm - 9 pm
Horse owners are responsible for feeding, cleaning and overall care of their horse. Proof of equine vaccination (minimum requirement 6-way vaccination within the last 12 months) required for admittance.
Note there are only two restaurant options in town (Loading Chute and Long Branch). Some snacks and water will be provided during the clinic, but please plan on bringing food for your meals.
